This video was taken on Tuesday, August 25th, 2009 at Rep. Jim Moran’s (D-VA) Town Hall meeting on Obama Deathcare (Howie Dean was there too) held at South Lakes High School in Reston, VA.

Many people were left outside when the school filled to capacity. School security officer Wesley Cheeks, Jr. did not like my anti-Obamacare poster which used one of the gone-viral “Joker” graphics.

When I said to Officer Cheeks, “This used to be America!” his response was: “It ain’t no more, OK?”

From the Desk of:
Steve Elliott, Grassfire

“What happened in D.C. over the weekend marked a
political watershed. But what now? What’s next?
Here’s my plan.” –Steve

The citizen revolt against Obama-led big government now has a face…

It’s the sea of grassroots Americans who peaceably marched on our
nation’s capital this past weekend. I’m thrilled that thousands
(perhaps tens of thousands) of Grassfire and ResistNet members
were on hand. And despite efforts by the liberal media to
downplay the crowd, one thing is clear…

The grassroots, tea-party resistance is massive, it is
growing, it has momentum and it is changing the
political landscape!

But the key question facing us right now is NOT arguing with the
liberals over how many people attended…

The real question of the day is this…

          What do we do now?

During Grassfire’s Grassroots Training session Friday before the
march, we launched a campaign that I believe answers that question,
and can help move the patriotic, tea-party resistance to the next
level…

I can sum it up in three words…

          …FLIP THIS HOUSE!

The time is NOW to translate our political resistance into
action–stimulating change that disrupts and alters the political
landscape. Simply put, we must FLIP THIS HOUSE in 2010!

Go here to find out more:

http://www.grassfire.net/r.asp?u=21637&RID=22150643

Marietta, one of our team members came to us with the idea and
it immediately resonated with me.

I can tell you that at our training session, Grassfire
and ResistNet team members caught the vision immediately–
responding loudly and strongly as soon as we put “Flip
This House 2010″ on the large video screens!

Flip This House 2010 is a non-partisan campaign designed
to restore the ideals of liberty and limited government
to political authority. And the next chance to do that
is in 2010… when we ban together to Flip This House!

During our training session, I outlined the four FLIP Principles
and the four aspects of the FLIP Platform that we believe can
unite the vast majority of the American people to challenge the
rising tide of statism and big government.

Marietta, I want you to review the FLIP Principles and the
FLIP Platform by going here:

http://www.grassfire.net/r.asp?u=21637&RID=22150643

++ Stirring a Waking Nation…

The first stage of our Flip This House initiative is to engage
hundreds of thousands–perhaps even millions of Americans in the
goal of “Flip This House 2010.”

Then, from that base, we can hold candidates accountable–
encouraging men and women of principle to seek office
to uphold these principles.

The Taxpayer March on D.C. was historic. And thanks to you,
Grassfire played a key role…

++You helped us reach our goal of delivering more than
500,000 petitions to Congress on the eve of the March…

++Dozens of Grassfire team members helped personally
deliver 505,000 petitions, and reaching every Senator…

         ++Grassfire and ResistNet hosted a two-hour Grassroots
Training session followed by a “meet-and-greet” reception
that attracted nearly 1,000 people…

++Grassfire/ResistNet served as one of the Platinum
Sponsors of the historic 9/12 march…

Now, we must move forward boldly. I believe “Flip This House 2010″
can help us do just that.

Please visit our new website where you can review the FLIP Principles
and Platform, listen to the launch event and more:

http://www.grassfire.net/r.asp?u=21637&RID=22150643

Thanks for the stand you are taking to RESTORE and REBUILD our
nation to greatness!

Steve

Hello Patriots!

For all of you who are going on the bus trip to DC, here is the info you have been waiting for! We have 2 buses going to Washington! Wha hoo! God is good! Departure Date: September 12, 2009 Departure Location: Lowes in Rocky Mount (please remember to drop by whenever you are in town to personally thank them for this community service.) Departure Time: 5:00 AM SHARP! Please be at Lowes 15-20 mins. earlier in order to load and board. There will be a second pick up stop. Location: Grand Furniture 122 E Westlake Departure Time: 5:30 AM You will be asked to a sign a waiver before boarding releasing FCP organizer of responsibility for your well being on this trip. This is a formality that is unfortunately necessary. Also we will distribute a map of the DC area marking the bus drop off location at Union Station and the march route to the Capitol Building. Rally location is less than 1/2 mile from Union Station. The start of the march (Freedom Plaze) to the rally location (Capitol Building) is approximately 8 blocks. If we arrive late, which is always a possibility, we can head toward Freedom Plaza and meet the marchers on the way. Those who do not feel up to the walk can find a spot on the Capitol lawn and wait for the marchers to arrive. DC March Schedule: 9:30 am – lining up for march at Freedom Plaza (14th St and Pennsylvania Ave.) 10:30 am – march to Capitol Building 1:00 pm – Event and Protest Rally begins on Capitol west lawn 4:00 pm – Event ends (Attendees need to return to Union Station to board bus) * We will make a dinner stop in Fredricksburg on the way home. Yippee! * We will also pass the “proverbial hat” on each bus to take up a tip for our bus drivers. Info for Volunteers and Attendees (please print this out and keep it for future reference)

All volunteers and attendees should carefully read the DC Capitol Police guidelines for events at the West Lawn, and act accordingly. It is important that all volunteers and attendees read the guidelines and tell those that come with them to the Capitol.

To make this a successful event, we must work with the DC Capitol Police. If you are leading a group to DC, please print out copies of the guidelines and hand them out at organizational meetings or email them to everyone that is coming to DC.

Another thing all volunteers and attendees should remember: this is a peaceful demonstration against big government. We are protesting to defend our liberties and speak out against the size and scope of government, and it is important that our movement remain peaceful if we are to continue to build public support. We are opposed to political violence for both philosophical and strategic reasons. If you want to understand how and why peaceful protests have been successful in the past, please read A Force More Powerful by Peter Ackermann and Jack Duvall.

Here are some Do’s and Don’t’s for attendees of the March on Washington:

About a dozen of the Franklin County Patriots took part in the National Health Care Freedom Rally by visiting the offices of Virginia Senators Warner and Webb in Roanoke on Friday July 17th. The group coordinated with the Roanoke Tea Party and local members of Campaign For Liberty. All together there were over 50 people who took part in the organized effort of the National Health Care Freedom Rall. Many others took part individually by writing letters, emails, making phone calls, and stopping by the Senate Offices on their own (not with the group).

I did a story on my website VirtualFranklinCountyVA.com currently it is up on the homepage but in a few days it will only be viewable at http://virtualfranklincountyva.com/politics-a-government/95-residents-air-concerns-about-health-care-reform.

The Roanoke Times also did a story with their usual bias and slant. It is viewable at: http://www.roanoke.com/politics/wb/212261.

Hi Franklin County Patriots,

A big THANK YOU to all who turned out today at Senator Warner’s and Webb’s office. I was very pleased to see so many new faces. I think our visit spoke volumes and I hope the next time there is a call to action even more will join us. We appreciated the Roanoke Tea Party patriots joining with us. Thanks so much!

We were about 30 people strong, articulate, to the point, polite yet spirited in sharing our anger over government interference and its violation of our Constitution. Here are some of the sentiments that were shared with the senatorial staff:

~ “I work for an insurance company and I am seeing and hearing alot of lies and they are coming from politicians.”

~ “I have never attended these meetings or rallies before but I came out today because I am fearful of government’s interference with private industry.”

~ “The government has not business interfering in our health care. It is an affront and an abomination to us that this government would have anything to do with our health

care, our freedoms and our abilities to take responsibility for our own health care and to act on behalf of our own good.”

~ “Instead of dumping the rest of us into a broken system, why not find ways to fix the problem without government control.”

~ “Mark Warner, don’t support any version of the Health Care Reform bill and if you do, you better be willing to come under it yourself!”

~ “Quit paying off lobbyists, ACORN and special interest groups!”

~ “Government has a horrendous record for mismanagment that will put small businesses out of business and put us all in a third world care system.”

I wish I could remember all the great points that were made by those who came out to express their concerns. It was stimulating and exciting. I wish more could have been apart of this. The staff members worked hard taking notes trying to capture key points that were being fired at them. I don’t think they have ever had to face something like this before in their political careers. They assured us that our concerns would be communicated to the Senators and that a reply would be forth coming.

I will share any reply from our senators that I receive.

Again, thank you to those who took the time to let your voice be heard! Your presence spoke loud and clear - “DON’T TREAD ON ME!”
