A message to all members of 9-12 March on Washington

I just wanted to send a quick note of thanks to all of you for working so hard to make the 9-12 March on Washington a big success! We here at FreedomWorks were blown away by the turnout, the energy and the patience you all displayed. Looking out across the west lawn of the capitol, down Pennsylvania Avenue and the Mall, was something I will never forget. You all just kept coming from Freedom Plaza, from Union Station and from the Mall to join the crowd already gathered at the capitol.

We were able to bring together hundreds of thousands of patriotic Americans in one place, at one time, with one voice. Our message was “Don’t Tread on Me!” We were heard loud and clear on Saturday, and the folks on Capitol Hill were talking about you all, yesterday and today. They couldn’t believe the size of the crowd, nor the excitement and energy that filled the west front of the capitol. I had one of our allies on the Hill email hundreds of staffers the pictures and videos from the protest.

And I told them all that if their bosses vote the right way going forward, you will know it and appreciate it. But I told them that if their bosses vote the wrong way, you will know it and make them feel the heat. I explained to the staffers that this was a real, growing movement for liberty in America, and that no one party, no one organization and no one person was in charge of it. This is a grassroots movement that will continue to roll like a tidal wave across the country, and it cannot be stopped.

Keep up the great work out there, whether you are in Santa Monica, Denver, Des Moines, Omaha or Philadelphia. If you continue to build your organizations at the local level, and connect with others around you, together we can build “a force more powerful” that will rival any mass social movement in American history. God bless each one of you for your sacrifices to come to Washington on that historic day. This will be remembered as the day We The People saved our republic.

Hello Patriots!

For all of you who are going on the bus trip to DC, here is the info you have been waiting for! We have 2 buses going to Washington! Wha hoo! God is good! Departure Date: September 12, 2009 Departure Location: Lowes in Rocky Mount (please remember to drop by whenever you are in town to personally thank them for this community service.) Departure Time: 5:00 AM SHARP! Please be at Lowes 15-20 mins. earlier in order to load and board. There will be a second pick up stop. Location: Grand Furniture 122 E Westlake Departure Time: 5:30 AM You will be asked to a sign a waiver before boarding releasing FCP organizer of responsibility for your well being on this trip. This is a formality that is unfortunately necessary. Also we will distribute a map of the DC area marking the bus drop off location at Union Station and the march route to the Capitol Building. Rally location is less than 1/2 mile from Union Station. The start of the march (Freedom Plaze) to the rally location (Capitol Building) is approximately 8 blocks. If we arrive late, which is always a possibility, we can head toward Freedom Plaza and meet the marchers on the way. Those who do not feel up to the walk can find a spot on the Capitol lawn and wait for the marchers to arrive. DC March Schedule: 9:30 am – lining up for march at Freedom Plaza (14th St and Pennsylvania Ave.) 10:30 am – march to Capitol Building 1:00 pm – Event and Protest Rally begins on Capitol west lawn 4:00 pm – Event ends (Attendees need to return to Union Station to board bus) * We will make a dinner stop in Fredricksburg on the way home. Yippee! * We will also pass the “proverbial hat” on each bus to take up a tip for our bus drivers. Info for Volunteers and Attendees (please print this out and keep it for future reference)

All volunteers and attendees should carefully read the DC Capitol Police guidelines for events at the West Lawn, and act accordingly. It is important that all volunteers and attendees read the guidelines and tell those that come with them to the Capitol.

To make this a successful event, we must work with the DC Capitol Police. If you are leading a group to DC, please print out copies of the guidelines and hand them out at organizational meetings or email them to everyone that is coming to DC.

Another thing all volunteers and attendees should remember: this is a peaceful demonstration against big government. We are protesting to defend our liberties and speak out against the size and scope of government, and it is important that our movement remain peaceful if we are to continue to build public support. We are opposed to political violence for both philosophical and strategic reasons. If you want to understand how and why peaceful protests have been successful in the past, please read A Force More Powerful by Peter Ackermann and Jack Duvall.

Here are some Do’s and Don’t’s for attendees of the March on Washington:

While participating in the March on Washington, you will be under the jurisdiction of the United States Capitol Police. Here is a list of things to remember on Capitol Grounds:

Sign supports must be wood and must have dull ends
